This week’s Subject:CINEMA hits the airwaves at 7 PM EST today, and we’ve got a HUGE lineup of great stuff for you! And as a special treat, here’s a little sneak preview – this week’s Under The Radar film is not only one of 2013’s best documentaries, IMHO it’s one of the best docs of ALL TIME! And for the next ten days, you can see it FOR FREE!
Only The Young is one of the most accurate and deeply personal slices of teenage life I have ever seen. Kim and I both fell head over heels in love with this little gem when we saw it back in January as part of The DocYard’s winter series at Cambridge’s Brattle Theatre, and having just re-watched it last night, I can definitely say that it deserved the A+ score I gave it back in January. Garrison, Kevin, and Skye will charm your socks off and make you feel what it’s like to be a teenager in today’s world. You will come out of this film with a smile on your face, a happy beat in your heart, and possibly even a tear in your eye…I know I did…:-)
It recently ran on PBS as part of the “P.O.V.” series, and from now through 8/14, you can watch it for FREE at PBS.org..and also right here. Full info on the film can be found in this week’s extended show notes, including links to watch it on Amazon, Vudu, and iTunes should you miss this free showing. But do us a favor, and don’t miss this film! And check out more of our feelings about Only The Young tonight on Subject:CINEMA!!
