Well, it’s that time again – time to debate the worth of the Golden Globe nominations. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced the nominees for this year, and as always, there are some questionable choices.
Both Deadline’s Nikki Finke and Showbiz 411′s Roger Friedman have long decried the awards as a sham, coming from an organization that is more interested in schmoozing with the stars and letting the free booze flow at their annual soiree than actually awarding the awards. But no matter. The studios get lots of press from the Globes, so that does make it somewhat important.
The Golden Globes will be handed out in a live telecast on NBC on Sunday, January 13, 2013. And no, Ricky Gervais is NOT hosting this year…
Once again, we are listing only the movie nominees; for full coverage, see Larry Richman’s excellent analysis over at Indie Film Spotlight.
