RED CARPET MONITOR: Busy Sunday sees THREE groups issues top awards; “Zero” no longer the only Best Picture in Town; “Perks” co-star Miller takes Boston’s Supporting Actor

THREE critics groups announced their lists today – The Boston Society of Film Critics, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, and the New York Film Critics Online.

Thanks to LA, Zero Dark Thirty is no longer the only game in town – Los Angeles honored the French import Amour as best picture, while NY and Boston went with the frontrunning Zero.

Acting awards were all over the road, but most prominent among all names today were not one but TWO names from “The Perks Of Being A Wallflower” from Boston – longtime PNR fave Ezra Miller took top honors from the BSFC for Best Supporting Actor, while co-star Emma Watson took the runner up slot in the Supporting Actress category. Neither have been considered serious candidates for the Golden Globes or Oscar by the Oscar pundits; now, with Boston’s track record showing they are usually a decent barometer of potential bigger award nominees, ’tis time for the pundits to rethink their candidates lists.
