We are officially LESS THAN 48 HOURS from the revelation of the 7th Annual Popcorn N Roses Rising Stars List, coming your way at 12 Noon THIS WEDNESDAY, July 4 2012!
This year’s list is bigger and better than ever, too…
In the past, we’ve always tried to concentrate primarily on film, since we’re a film site (duh!), but a few from other places have snuck in here and there, like Ryan Sheckler and Vincent Caso, thanks to fun performances they delivered and the potential they had to become big when the chance came.
So this year, we’ve decided to make a slight change – this year, we are still primarily looking at film, but we’re doing it from a larger perspective – young performers (for the first time that I can remember, the majority of the list honorees are 21 or younger) from ALL mediums – film, television, music, and internet – that we think have the potential to be breakout stars in film when they get there. Most if not all have been involved with film in some way already, and the few that haven’t we think will be huge when they make the leap, and they’re bound to make it sooner rather than later.
This isn’t to say that the list was EASY this year – it was NOT. Opening it up to performers involved in all mediums made it even more difficult to select the ten we think are most likely to break out in some way, and are definitely worth keeping a close eye on no matter what happens in the future. From 39 young men and 31 young women, we have culled the list down to the top ten again. And those who didn’t make the list this year will stay on the short list for further research, heh heh heh…
From 9 AM to 10:30 AM or so Eastern time on Wednesday, July 4, I will be tweeting clues to the identities of the 20 young performers we will honor this year on our primary @popcornnroses Twitter ID. We ask that you come by, watch and RETWEET all the clues (and if you don’t follow us yet, you SHOULD…consider this a hint). A clue to one of the 20 honorees was already “leaked” (heh heh) as part of this past Saturday’s Daily Trailer feature, and there may be clues to some of the others between now and our Sneak Tweet show on Wednesday morning.
Help us make this year’s show the BIGGEST Show we’ve EVER done – come over to http://subjectcinema.com on Wednesday at noon and listen to the show…or better yet, download the show from our site or from iTunes (and while you’re there, don’t forget to subscribe) and help us celebrate Independence Day in the US with the big announcement! We’ll be looking for you then!
